Telluride’s Best SECRET spot!
Guys, I’m not even gonna lie to y’all…this place is the closest I’ve ever been to having my own “The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music” meadow.
What makes a place beautiful? Mountains? Trees? Meadows? Wildflowers? Majestic Views? A Woodland Stream?
Check, check, check, check, double check, and check.
All it’s really missing is a waterfall and a couple of unicorns.
Ok, I don’t wanna oversell it, so I’m just gonna go ahead and tell you how to get there.
Disclaimer: You will want to take this ride in a car that can handle rough roads. The footpath that we found was not fenced off, it didn’t have posted private property signs, and seemed to be open to the public. This isn’t a designated national forest hike, it’s just a random footpath we found on the side of the road. It was a great find!

Directions:
From Telluride: head out of town on HWY 145 toward Placerville. Turn left on Silver Pick Rd. (If you hit The Angler Inn, you have missed your turn) You will need to be in a vehicle that can handle rough roads. Silver Pick Rd will have 2 forks. The first you will come to will split off to the right. Stay straight/left on this first fork. The second fork will split off 3 ways. Stay straight/middle of the forks. At this point, you will start to get into thick Aspen trees, and it will be amazing. Go until you see the pictures below, and then follow the directions below.

Ok, you’ve driven into the Aspen, and the roads are getting crappier. Have heart, because this means you are almost there!
When you see the picture below, pull off and get creative to find a place to leave your car.

We drove forward a little bit and pulled off on a path to the right. Please be considerate of possible drivers while you are gone!
OK, so now you have parked your car and are getting ready to go on the footpath!

Yes, this place is awesome, but I’m gonna warn you, it’s incredibly marshy. Wear either waterproof boots or shoes that you don’t care about getting trashed. Oh, and expect to get dirty.
There are some dry spots intermixed with the marshiness, so if you just wanted to sit and enjoy the scenery for a little bit you totally could. We kind of had to tramp around to find them. I will warn you it wasn’t the easiest hiking I’ve ever done, because there is no trail once you get to the meadow. But if you’re all about views then it’ll be worth it to you!

It’s a super short hike to the meadow, and remember I warned you about how marshy it is! The views were amazing and it was worth every step!
