34th Annual Telluride Balloon Festival – June 2017
Telluride, Colorado is a beautiful mountain town on the western slope of the state. I admittedly haven’t been to Aspen or Steamboat Springs (yet), but I feel confident in saying it would still be my favorite even if I had!
Summer and early fall in Telluride are host to a plethora of amazing festivals and events – some of which are incredibly popular and famous (think Telluride Film Festival, anyone?). Even though there are many I would like to experience, the only one that I’ve made the trek for so far is the Telluride Balloon Festival, which is usually held the first weekend of every June!
I love visiting Telluride in early June because the Aspen trees have all their leaves, the grass is a beautiful green, the weather is great for hiking, the waterfalls are booming, the mountains are still white-capped…the list goes on and on!
Another great thing about the Telluride Balloon Festival is that it kind of kick starts the Festival season, so the town is not ridiculously busy with summer traffic yet!
This year was the 34th Annual Telluride Balloon Festival, and even though the balloons did not fly the first morning due to the wind, it was still fun to see all the balloons fired up with the beautiful mountains behind them!
Telluride is a place every mountain lover should see in their lifetime!

These pictures are taken from the first morning of the Festival. In my recent experiences, the balloons take flight for two mornings, with the Night Glow occurring on Saturday night. Unfortunately this year most of the balloons were unable to actually take flight the first morning due to the wind. There was only a small handful that braved flight!

It was disappointing that the balloons didn’t fly over Main St. the first day, but we still had fun watching the balloons go up!

The Night Glow on Main St. was done on Saturday night. This is one of my favorite parts of the festival! Main St. gets blocked off and everyone gets to walk around watching the balloons go up and taking pictures!!

One year I’m going to find a place that has seating-slash-a bar on the rooftop so I can get a good view of all the balloons!

I didn’t get pictures of the balloons taking off the next morning, but I did see them all land on the other side of town!

It’s such a fun experience in a cool-a$$ town! If you love the outdoors and you love mountains, then you need to book a trip to Telluride ASAP!
Don’t forget to leave me a comment and lemme know what you think!! Have you been to Telluride?? Have you been to a Festival?? I wanna know!
Until next time!
