New Mexico’s Roadside Attractions: Santa Fe’s Cross of the Martyrs
I’m gonna be Captain Obvious right now and say what everyone has surely been thinking…Sara, you need to get a wide angle lens. Period!!
I’m glad we can be honest with each other. Now back to work!
My Roadside Attraction & Oddity today is the Cross of the Martyrs in Santa Fe, NM.

Have I ever told you guys I have a real love/hate thing going on with Santa Fe? Most of the time I feel like it’s more hate than love…but that’s another blog post for another time.
I feel like maybe my attention span is a little short today.

One thing I’ll give Santa Fe is that it’s very historic. Cross of the Martyrs was erected in honor of the Franciscans that were killed in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Apparently there is a candlelit procession every Labor Day weekend in honor of Fiesta weekend that winds from Saint Francis Cathedral up to the Cross of the Martyrs. Might be interesting to see if you’re in the area! It’s located in Downtown and has a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains. I think it would be an awesome place to watch the sun go down!
Directions: (from Santa Fe Plaza Downtown) head east on E. Palace Ave. Take a left on Paseo de Peralta. The trailhead is along this road, if you hit Otero St, you’ve gone too far.
I saw a yelp reviewer say if you GPS 341 Prince Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501, it will take you to parking up the hill with an easier walk. Might be worth a shot!

So, I know I’m labeling this a Roadside Attraction and Oddity, but in all reality it does take a very short hike from the parking area to get here.
I didn’t want to hold that lie in any longer.

Overall opinion? Not much to it but definitely worth seeing if you are already in Downtown Santa Fe. It really does have a great view of the city and the surrounding mountains.

So what do you guys think? Have you been to Santa Fe? Did you see this attraction?? I wanna know!
Until next time!
