8 Photos That Will Make You Want to See Breckenridge in the Fall!
Fall is definitely the most wonderful time of the year! All of the other seasons pale in comparison. Let’s examine this for a second: Summer’s are great in their own way, of course. Spring I would call enticing, with its budding colors and promises of summer. Winter – well, winter sucks…but Fall?? Fall has the best of all worlds! The weather is still beautiful for outdoorsy adventures, the crowds are thinned out from everyone going back to school and work, and the fall colors in the Colorado Rocky Mountains are nothing short of miraculous!
(Miraculous might be a bit strong…but I’m standing by it!)
This past year was my third time to be in Colorado Springs during the fall. Both of the previous falls, I never had the opportunity to get out when the Aspen were gold and enjoy the fall colors to my heart’s content – or even at all! I was either working, broke, pregnant aka too tired to do anything…whatever the reason, I didn’t get to partake.
But oh no! Not this last year! I drove myself up into those mountains several days of the week for about three weeks in a row! I hiked, went on scenic drives, went to Breckenridge – and I gotta say, the bump I had in my gas bill that month is definitely not something I regret!
I had heard about Thomas Dambo’s giant Troll in Breckenridge, so naturally, I needed to go and see what all the fuss was about! The Troll was definitely neat to see (and when they rebuild it in 2019 I plan to go back so I can make a post about it), but the highlight of the day was without a doubt the gorgeous colors that we saw in Breck!

Going to Breckenridge on a weekday during the Fall is kind of the best time to go! My friend and I dragged our little babies on a 2-hour drive from Colorado Springs so we could spend the day there and see the fall colors and the Troll. The streets were pretty much deserted, the restaurants were empty, and it was a far cry from the jam-packed busy-ness that I’ve seen every time I’ve visited in the winter. And the best part? We had no trouble finding parking at all. (Now that really is an appropriate use of the word “miraculous”.) I mean, you can just look through these pictures and see that they speak for themselves! There’s hardly a soul in sight! I’ve visited Breck in the past where we literally – and without any exaggeration – were driving around for an HOUR looking for parking. It was beyond a breath of fresh air to just waltz in and have our pick of spots!
This post is a little different from my usual posts because I’m really just writing this to showcase the amazing fall colors! No directions, no tips, no step by step photos…just Breck in all her glory! Breckenridge is one of those Colorado mountain towns that’s “classic Colorado”, and I definitely recommend making time to see it during the fall months!
Here are 8 pictures to convince you to visit Breck in the Fall!

I’ve been to Breck many times, and surprisingly enough, usually in the winter, so it was rare for me to see the mountains without any snow!

This is outside of my favorite place to eat in Breck – CB & Potts!

This is located on the South end where all the shops end and the condos begin. I had actually never seen this little lake without being frozen over with a solid layer of snow!

I mean who doesn’t love orange, yellow, and red fall color magic???

This is just everyday “no big deal” for Breck in the Fall.

Is that not the most lovely and picturesque Starbucks you’ve ever seen??

It is possible that I get over excited for Fall Colors. And I am OK with that.

Perfection.
2 Bonus Photo’s of Breck’s 1st Troll
So, I debated adding the photos of the Breck’s Troll. There ended up being quite a bit of controversy surrounding this little guy from the locals. The artist who constructed the troll is named Thomas Dambo, and he has works of art such as our little Troll friend all over the world! Unfortunately for Dambo’s creation here in Breck, the locals didn’t care for the Troll being in their backyard, so to speak. It was built in the back of a neighborhood quite a bit off the touristy “beaten path”. So, down Mr. Troll came and up he will go in May of 2019 in another, more acceptable, part of town.
So what I’m trying to say is that the below pics show a creation that is no longer in existence, but I wanted to share with y’all anyways because 1) It was pretty cool, and 2) this is as good as any a time for me to share these!

The above picture was our first view of the troll from the path

Such amazing detail – and it was all made from scrap wood! I would love to see more of his work, but for now, I will enjoy my memories of this masterpiece that once was!
I’m sure no one needs me to twist their arm to go see Breckenridge, but I do hope these pictures have encouraged you to visit in the Fall! It was rainy or I would’ve tried some hiking, but hiking with 2 babies in the rain is not my ideal hiking conditions.
Anyways, hope y’all liked this post! Don’t forget to leave me a comment!
Until next time!
