Tips for Visiting Doc Holliday’s Memorial – A Glenwood Springs Must-See!
So, I’ve gotta say…I feel like I’m really not that old. I’m in my early 30’s, so I think we can all agree that I definitely don’t have one foot in the grave. Despite this, I feel really old when I talk to others about Doc Holliday. I literally can’t count on my one hand how many people have given me a blank stare when I talk about hiking to Doc Holliday’s Memorial in Glenwood Springs, CO. Here’s how the conversation typically goes: Me: Oh yes, I love visiting Glenwood Springs! We like to hike up to Doc Holliday’s Memorial. You can access it from the middle of town! People who…

Top Tips For Driving Colorado’s Skyline Drive!
When I was young and still in early elementary school, my family traveled with my Uncle’s family to Colorado. (Little did I know that I would be living there one day!) Honestly, I don’t remember a whole lot from the trip (youth really is wasted on the young isn’t it??), but I do remember everyone’s reaction to driving on Skyline Drive! Note, I said I remember everyone’s reaction…I didn’t even know we had done it until we were looking at souvenirs saying, “I Survived Skyline Drive!” I asked my mom what that was and she told me we had just done it. Insert face slap emoji. Regardless of my amazing and…

Hike Colorado’s Raspberry Mountain Near Colorado Springs
One of my favorite parts about living in Colorado Springs is my close proximity to the mountains!! Nothing beats leaving a hot summer day in the Springs behind to drive up for a hike in the cool mountain air. There are a lot of hiking trails close to Colorado Springs, but my favorite area to go hiking at is near Mueller State Park in Divide. Now don’t get me wrong, Mueller State Park has some beautiful scenery and awesome hikes… however there are two trails across the highway from it that are literally breathtaking!! One is the Crags Trail, and the other is Raspberry Mountain! Raspberry Mountain trail is a seriously beautiful…

Hiking in Colorado: The Crags Trail near Colorado Springs
I know that Fall is beautiful in a lot of places, and not just Colorado. I know that…but it’s really hard to feel that after you spend your fall in the majesty of the orange and gold Aspen of the Colorado Rocky Mountains! Last September I got to fill my heart with fall colors unlike anything I had ever seen before!! I went on hikes, drives, day trips – you name it, and I tried to fit it into my days off! One of the best hikes I went on for fall colors was the Crags Trail in Divide. It was magical – it was so pretty I was angry for…

RMNP Hiking Guide: Bear Lake to Fern Lake Trailhead Part 3
Hello again! I’m finishing up with my mini-series of posts on the 8.5 mile (9.3 with the walk to the shuttle) hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park that starts at Bear Lake and ends at the Fern Lake trailhead. For those of you who are just joining, all I will say is this is bucket list worthy stuff. Now you’re caught up! I’ve mentioned this in the previous posts, but when my friend, my 8 month old baby, and I started out on this hike we thought it was 7 miles! (PS, people on All Trails are sometimes grossly erroneous…but you guys probably already knew that). So here we are,…

RMNP Hiking Guide: Bear Lake to Fern Lake Trailhead Part 2
Hello again! I’m back and I’ve come with the intention of making you lust after visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park as soon as possible. Writing about all this hiking in the RMNP has put the yearning in me for warmer weather!! Sadly we are still in the middle of winter and snow is still all around. 🙁 I should probably take up snowshoeing so I’m not bored half the year. Then again my fingers become popsicles after being in the cold for 5 minutes, so, maybe not. Darn my Texan blood! Anyways, my last post laid out the beginning of what ended up being the most beautiful hike I’ve…

RMNP Hiking Guide: Bear Lake to Fern Lake Trailhead Part 1
Oh Rocky Mountain National Park. How I love you. If you’ve never been to RMNP, then go ahead and grab your bucket list – cause you need to add it on there pronto!! There’s a reason this is one of the most visited National Parks in the country! Stunning peaks, beautiful trees, breathtaking meadows, crystal clear lakes?? It’s almost too much for a nature lover like me to take. Last year was my first time to visit the park – and I visited it no less than four times in a year… despite the two and a half hour drive to get there! Estes Park took my breath away the first…

Rocky Mountain National Park: 6 Amazing Spots in One Hike!
I consider myself very lucky to only live 2.5 hours away (on a good drive through Denver) from the Most Magical Place on Earth. Yes, that’s right, it’s not Disneyland like most people believe – it’s the Rocky Mountain National Park. I would imagine it’s a little overwhelming trying to plan a trip to RMNP if you don’t live around the area. There are so many hikes, lakes, waterfalls, scenic drives – and you only have so many days to see it! When it comes to hiking I would definitely suggest choosing your hikes so that you get the most bang for your buck…i.e., hikes that have multiple scenic spots! I…

Hiking Guide to Colorado’s Horsethief Falls
I can officially say that I’ve been hiking up in Divide, CO! There are trails up there I’ve been wanting to check out for over a year now, and I finally did this summer! Between being pregnant and working the night shift last year, I really slacked on doing all the outdoor adventures I wanted to…but I’m making up for it! I’m so blessed that my little baby loves to be outdoors on the trail..she’s such an adventurer already!! Horsethief Falls is located in the Pike National Forest, just a little past the town of Divide. The forest in this area is a beautiful mix of Aspen and Evergreens, which…

Ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Colorado!!
I have discovered in my older age (the ripe old decade of my 20’s) that I really enjoying riding trains!! I’ve been on a few trains in my lifetime, and so far the Georgetown Loop railroad has been the best train I’ve ever been on! That being said I haven’t been on the trains in Durango, Leadville, Alamosa, Antonito…Ok, so maybe my proclamation is a little premature, but I feel confident in saying this train is definitely Top 3 material!! I was pretty hesitant to make a post about this because the only pictures I have are from my iPhone. Phone pictures just don’t compare to a Nikon!!! However, I…
