Palo Duro Canyon State Park: Hiking the Lighthouse Trail
I wanted to name this blog post, “Texas, our Texas, all hail the mighty state,” but I didn’t figure all you non-Texas would appreciate that. (I’m totally not serious…I just really wanted to make a reference to the state song!) A month and a half ago I left my beautiful Colorado to go back to the Mother land – aka, Texas. My sister was making a quick weekend trip so she could be a part of a wedding, so I decided to tag along. We left late in the evening, drove through the night, and got to Amarillo by morning. Yes – I made 527 jokes about “Amarillo by morning”….it…

Hiking Guide to Colorado’s Horsethief Falls
I can officially say that I’ve been hiking up in Divide, CO! There are trails up there I’ve been wanting to check out for over a year now, and I finally did this summer! Between being pregnant and working the night shift last year, I really slacked on doing all the outdoor adventures I wanted to…but I’m making up for it! I’m so blessed that my little baby loves to be outdoors on the trail..she’s such an adventurer already!! Horsethief Falls is located in the Pike National Forest, just a little past the town of Divide. The forest in this area is a beautiful mix of Aspen and Evergreens, which…

Ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Colorado!!
I have discovered in my older age (the ripe old decade of my 20’s) that I really enjoying riding trains!! I’ve been on a few trains in my lifetime, and so far the Georgetown Loop railroad has been the best train I’ve ever been on! That being said I haven’t been on the trains in Durango, Leadville, Alamosa, Antonito…Ok, so maybe my proclamation is a little premature, but I feel confident in saying this train is definitely Top 3 material!! I was pretty hesitant to make a post about this because the only pictures I have are from my iPhone. Phone pictures just don’t compare to a Nikon!!! However, I…

Colorado’s Wolf Creek Pass
Y’all may have picked up on this…but I love living in Colorado!! I’m not saying it’s the best place on planet Earth, but it has such beautiful scenery that I really don’t care if I’m missing out by not living somewhere else. I mean, I’d live in Oregon, but their state income tax would make me throw up blood every time I looked at my paycheck. No, I’m just gonna have to keep hanging around Colorado! While there are so many beautiful places in Colorado that I could talk about, I’m gonna give this shoutout to Wolf Creek Pass near Pagosa Springs. I 100% love the Western Slope of Colorado, specifically…

Take a Dip in Colorado’s Paradise Cove!
I seriously can’t believe that July is over and August is already upon us!! I already felt like this year was going by fast, but this summer has seriously flown by!! I had so many things planned that I wanted to do this year and now I’m scrambling to get a few of them done while it’s still great weather!! The good news is I live in an awesome place so it’s not hard to find something cool to do on short notice! It’s been about a year and a half since moving back to Colorado and we haven’t regretted our decision one time! One of the coolest things for…

Hanging Lake – What You Need to Know in 2019!!
I need everyone to stop what they’re doing and hear what I’m saying (…read what I’m writing?? Whatever, just stop what you’re doing and pay attention!) You have to make time in the course of your life to see Hanging Lake. Yup, I just put that out there, because this is “Bucket List” worthy stuff right here!! I really really don’t want to sound like a jaded Colorado a-hole… but given what I’ve been blessed to see and experience in my life, it takes a little bit more than run-of-the-mill scenery to mind-blow-impress me. Don’t get me wrong!!!!!! I try to mindfully enjoy all different kinds of landscapes and foliage and…

Hiking to the Reservoirs in Palmer Lake, CO
Howdy everyone!!! I hope y’all had a good weekend…I had a fun and oh-so-exciting weekend of working!! I can tell you that four 12’s in a row will quickly wear you out and quite possibly make you hate your life just a little bit. Lucky for me I was super active this past week, so I had memories of several hiking trails to sustain me through my workdays!! One of the trails I hiked with my little family this past week was in Palmer Lake, CO…which is on the northwest outskirts of Colorado Springs. This is such a beautiful area to go hiking in!!! I love the diversity of evergreens…and when…

Hiking in Ruidoso’s White Mountain Wilderness
Hello everyone!! I am excited to say that I finally bought a new computer after a year of going without!! I am so excited to be able to edit my photos again, although I will say that catching up on editing a years worth of photos has been a little taxing and time consuming! I’ve been going through a lot of my older photos and I’m starting to get nostalgic about some of my favorite places in Ruidoso, NM. I know people who are not from around there think New Mexico is just a flat, dusty, desert-y place…and that certainly can be true! However, there are truly a lot of beautiful…

Why you should visit Colorado’s Chimney Rock National Monument!
Hello everyone!!! I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted – my little baby keeps me pretty busy!! Today’s post is from a trip that I took last summer with my family! Some of you may or may not know that New Mexico and Colorado are home to a variety of Native American ruins. I’ve always found it interesting to tour these areas and learn about the culture and day to day life of the people who lived there! Now I’m not an expert of Native American culture, so I’m not going to discuss historical information in this post, but I do want to promote the tour we took…

Visit Cascade Falls in Ouray, CO!
Ahhhhh, the Million Dollar Highway! I’ve seen Aspen, I’ve seen Vail, Breckenridge and Crested Butte have been done, and still, the Million Dollar Highway-slash-Telluride area is hands down my favorite part of Colorado! Ok, so I’ve just driven through a lot of those places on day trips… but seriously, this area/Telluride is still the prettiest in my opinion!! My post for today is going to be short and sweet! It’s based in Ouray, CO. Ouray (which is pronounced “your-ay”) is at the end of the Million Dollar Highway, or as it’s also known as, the “Switzerland of America”. For the past two years we have made our way through the…
