Hiking in Colorado: Eleven Mile Canyon’s Overlook Trail
I love Colorado Springs, but I won’t lie…sometimes I get bored of the same’ ol hiking areas that I’ve hiked a thousand times before. (*gasp*) I’m glad I got that off my chest! Don’t get me wrong, Colorado Springs has some really nice hiking areas! I mean come on, Garden of the Gods? North Cheyenne Canon?? Red Rock Open Space??? All classics in the Colorado Springs area. Even though they offer nice trails that are close to town, sometimes a girl’s just gotta get herself up into the mountains and find some adventure! One of the things I have recently gotten to cross off of my “Colorado Spring’s Adventure List”…

A Local’s List of the 9 Best Hiking Spots in Colorado Springs!
Hello everyone! I’m excited to write today’s post…one could say I’ve done a lot of research on it! I’ve lived here off and on for a total of 4.5 years, and even though I would never imply that I’ve “seen it all”, I most definitely have hiked my little heart out in and around most of Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, my hiking has been derailed a lot these past several months due to the record-breaking snowfall the state has received! I’m so excited that it’s now July and hiking season is fully upon us! While I may not be a Colorado native, I am definitely a Colorado Springs local, and I…

Hiking in Colorado Springs: Spruce Mountain Open Space
I’m not sure if you’ve picked up on this, but I pretty well love hiking and being outdoors! I also love having a three day work week because I can hike on weekdays and avoid the massive weekend crowd in the Springs! Weekend hiking around here is hardly a solo sport, so don’t count on having any trails to yourself! I wouldn’t be presumptive enough to say I’ve hiked everything worth hiking in the Colorado Springs area, but I will say that I’m pretty snobby about where I’ll go! One of my favorite places to hike is the Spruce Mountain Open Space near Larkspur! Spruce Mountain is a butte that lies just…

Hike Colorado’s Raspberry Mountain Near Colorado Springs
One of my favorite parts about living in Colorado Springs is my close proximity to the mountains!! Nothing beats leaving a hot summer day in the Springs behind to drive up for a hike in the cool mountain air. There are a lot of hiking trails close to Colorado Springs, but my favorite area to go hiking at is near Mueller State Park in Divide. Now don’t get me wrong, Mueller State Park has some beautiful scenery and awesome hikes… however there are two trails across the highway from it that are literally breathtaking!! One is the Crags Trail, and the other is Raspberry Mountain! Raspberry Mountain trail is a seriously beautiful…

Hiking in Colorado: The Crags Trail near Colorado Springs
I know that Fall is beautiful in a lot of places, and not just Colorado. I know that…but it’s really hard to feel that after you spend your fall in the majesty of the orange and gold Aspen of the Colorado Rocky Mountains! Last September I got to fill my heart with fall colors unlike anything I had ever seen before!! I went on hikes, drives, day trips – you name it, and I tried to fit it into my days off! One of the best hikes I went on for fall colors was the Crags Trail in Divide. It was magical – it was so pretty I was angry for…

Hiking Guide to Colorado’s Horsethief Falls
I can officially say that I’ve been hiking up in Divide, CO! There are trails up there I’ve been wanting to check out for over a year now, and I finally did this summer! Between being pregnant and working the night shift last year, I really slacked on doing all the outdoor adventures I wanted to…but I’m making up for it! I’m so blessed that my little baby loves to be outdoors on the trail..she’s such an adventurer already!! Horsethief Falls is located in the Pike National Forest, just a little past the town of Divide. The forest in this area is a beautiful mix of Aspen and Evergreens, which…

Take a Dip in Colorado’s Paradise Cove!
I seriously can’t believe that July is over and August is already upon us!! I already felt like this year was going by fast, but this summer has seriously flown by!! I had so many things planned that I wanted to do this year and now I’m scrambling to get a few of them done while it’s still great weather!! The good news is I live in an awesome place so it’s not hard to find something cool to do on short notice! It’s been about a year and a half since moving back to Colorado and we haven’t regretted our decision one time! One of the coolest things for…

Hiking to the Reservoirs in Palmer Lake, CO
Howdy everyone!!! I hope y’all had a good weekend…I had a fun and oh-so-exciting weekend of working!! I can tell you that four 12’s in a row will quickly wear you out and quite possibly make you hate your life just a little bit. Lucky for me I was super active this past week, so I had memories of several hiking trails to sustain me through my workdays!! One of the trails I hiked with my little family this past week was in Palmer Lake, CO…which is on the northwest outskirts of Colorado Springs. This is such a beautiful area to go hiking in!!! I love the diversity of evergreens…and when…

Climb Colorado Spring’s Pulpit Rock
Have I ever told y’all how much I love living in Colorado?? New Mexico and Texas have their good qualities, but they don’t really compare to the Rockies, if ya know what I mean! Today’s hike is a little different in the fact that it’s not in the mountains, but right in the middle of a shopping area in Colorado Springs! Pulpit Rock is found in central Colorado Springs off I-25, right in the middle of the city! The above picture was actually taken from Nevada St, to give an idea of how close it is to shopping! This is a pretty cool hike and I definitely recommend it to…

Helen Hunt Falls & Silver Cascade Falls: Colorado Springs
Hello again everybody!! Sorry for the long silence, I have spent the last several months dealing with first trimester nausea and all around fatigue!! ….did I mention I’m pregnant?? Well I am! I’m glad we cleared that up 🙂 Anyways, I wanted to post about one of Colorado Spring’s easiest to access waterfalls! For those of you who know the area, you know that Seven Falls is the better known and more touristy of waterfalls to see. It also comes with an admission price and a shuttle bus. Helen Hunt Falls is not nearly as tall or impressive of a waterfall as Seven Falls. Despite this, I’m more into free…
