I’m gonna be Captain Obvious right now and say what everyone has surely been thinking…Sara, you need to get a wide angle lens. Period!! I’m glad we can be honest with each other. Now back to work! My Roadside Attraction & Oddity today is the Cross of the Martyrs in Santa Fe, NM. Have I ever told you guys I have a real love/hate thing going on with Santa Fe? New Mexico’s Roadside Attractions: Smokey the Bear
As my husband and I were driving, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere, we happened upon a curious scene. You may wonder at what a random (but sturdy) cut out of Smokey the Bear is doing on the side of the road near Lincoln, NM. I wondered too…until I discovered the most amazing random fact! Now let’s not get all excited before I give you a little info. Our rattlesnake friend (we’ll call him Timmy) lives on a median of a deserted road in the middle of a random area of town – an area that my friend who was a local assured me was the…

New Mexico Roadside Attractions: The Roadrunner
For all you people out there who think that the stretch on I-10 through west Texas and southern New Mexico is the most soul-sucking drive known to man…I agree with you! The terrain in New Mexico doesn’t get even remotely interesting until you travel off the Interstate…40 or 10! However, if you are stuck driving this deserted interstate, might as well stop for one of its roadside attractions! So for those of you who like the weird and the quirky, this post is for you! (Like Roadside Attractions?? Click here for others in New Mexico!) This little guy perches atop a hill overlooking Las Cruces, NM. (I would like to think of…
